If the Mount Miguel Matadors were feeling good off their 65-43 takedown of the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mount Miguel took a 58-44 bruising from Patrick Henry on Thursday. Mount Miguel lost against Patrick Henry in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 48-32 score last time.
Several Matadors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hamad Elhamad, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Thaddeus Boudreaux, who scored 13 points.
Patrick Henry's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaac Weatherred, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Klu, who scored 13 points.
Mount Miguel has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Patrick Henry, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Mount Miguel and Hilltop will face off at 3:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hilltop is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
