Volleyball Recap: Kaukauna Gets the Win

If Appleton North wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Kaukauna, they should've done a better job of containing Brenna Matthies. The Galloping Ghosts won by a set and slipped past the Lightning 3-2 with plenty of help from Matthies, who had 12 digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Kaukauna had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 24-26, 16-25, 25-17, 25-19, 15-3.

Kaukauna's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Appleton North, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-12.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Kaukauna will challenge rival Appleton West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Appleton North is set to square off against their familiar foe Kimberly at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
