Spanish Springs put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 48-26 margin over Reno. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Spanish Springs has posted since December 21, 2023.
Spanish Springs found their leader in underclassman Aaliyah Vance, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Wakefield, who scored no points along with seven steals.
Meanwhile, Carson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Douglas, falling 57-16. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Carson has scored all season.
Carson's loss came about despite a quality game from Dahlia Keating, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Carson struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Douglas posted 11 assists.
Spanish Springs has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Carson, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-12.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Spanish Springs have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 28.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Carson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 34.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
