Angelo Prep will head out on the road to face off against the Reagan County Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Angelo Prep picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over Grape Creek. Angelo Prep might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Reagan County). They won by a run and slipped past Stanton 11-10. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Sterling Martinez and Jj Jimenez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Martinez tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jimenez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Martinez went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Jimenez got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those runs marked the first that Martinez has scored this season.
In other batting news, Kaiden Galindo was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ezgar Vasquez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Reagan County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Angelo Prep, their record now sits at 4-1-1.
