The Linsly Cadets were the 64-37 winner over the Steubenville Big Red when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Linsly took a 65-48 bruising from Steubenville on Monday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Linsly came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 20th in West Virginia, while Steubenville is ranked 106th in Ohio).
Steubenville was led to victory by Aniyah Warner and Nylah Mcshan. Warner dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Mcshan dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Warner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabria Jones, who scored two points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Linsly's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-13. As for Steubenville, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Linsly will head out on the road to face off against Shenandoah at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shenandoah is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Steubenville, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Weir at 6:00 p.m.
