On Friday, the Greene County Tech Golden Eagles faced the Nettleton Raiders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Greene County Tech came out on top against Nettleton by a score of 56-48. The win was nothing new for Greene County Tech as they're now sitting on five straight.
Leading Greene County Tech to victory were Weslyn Burnside and Ava Carter. Burnside scored 17 points along with six rebounds, while Carter dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Carter continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jacey Edrington, who scored 13 points.
Greene County Tech has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-5-1 record this season. As for Nettleton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-3.
Greene County Tech will be playing in front of their home fans against Batesville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Batesville and Greene County Tech are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Nettleton, they will head out on the road to face off against Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marion will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Nettleton is ranked seventh).
