PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - A 35-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter didn't slow down
Imhotep Charter (Philadelphia, Pa.) as it put 12 more points on the scoreboard to secure its victory over Prep Charter (Philadelphia, Pa.) 47-0.
The Panthers were up 14-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Eerin Young in the first quarter.
Imhotep Charter expanded its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. IC scored three times in the third, including once on a
David Williams touchdown run.
With the win the Panthers extended their winning streak to eight games. Imhotep Charter defeated the Jaguars 47-12 last week.
Young played well for IC in the victory. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
Prep Charter came in allowing just 14.0 points per game this season. PC struggled against the Panthers, which came in averaging 45.4 points per game. Imhotep Charter had given up an average of 5.0 points prior to the contest. The zero points that Prep Charter ended with were well below its average of 32.9 coming into the game.
When the two teams played each other last season, IC came away with a 36-0 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Prep Charter, which notched a 37-0 victory over Communications Tech in its previous outing. The loss snapped PC's 2-game winning streak.
Prep Charter (5-3) goes up against South Philadelphia in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Imhotep Charter (8-0) locks horns with Frankford also in a non-conference game.
