The Colon Magi proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 33) but on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Homer 51-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Colon.
Colon found their leader in underclassman Dalton Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Williams hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nic Mock, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Colon now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Homer, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colon and Climax-Scotts will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Climax-Scotts has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Homer, they will head out on the road to square off against Addison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Homer is facing Addison at the right time seeing as Addison is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
