The J.F. Webb Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They fell 61-49 to Granville Central. While losing is never fun, J.F. Webb can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 588th, while Granville Central is ranked 202nd).
Despite the loss, J.F. Webb still got an impressive performance from Joshua Barnette, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jabari Hunter, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
J.F. Webb's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-12. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Granville Central, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
J.F. Webb will head out on the road to take on Southern Durham at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Durham knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully J.F. Webb likes a good challenge. As for Granville Central, Granville Central and Vance County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
