Valley Christian (Chandler, Ariz.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
TJ Widner thew a touchdown to
Spencer Richardson with 5:00 to go, bringing the team to victory over
Casa Grande (Ariz.) 32-27.
After trailing 19-14 at the half, the Cougars went ahead on a touchdown with 8:00 to go in the fourth.
Valley Christian expanded its lead to six points entering the fourth quarter. VC scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by
Ty Corbin.
Corbin was the top performer for the Chandler school. The junior ran for three touchdowns.
The Trojans got revenge for last year's 28-13 loss to Casa Grande with the victory.
The win was a nice bounce back for Valley Christian, which lost to Bourgade Catholic last week, 27-13. The loss comes after Casa Grande defeated Vista Grande 35-8 last week. The victory snapped VC's 2-game losing streak.
In a III Section I game next week Casa Grande (1-3) takes on Santa Cruz Valley, and Valley Christian (2-2) will go up against Coronado in a non-conference game.
