Westfield is 1-8 against Avon since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Shamrocks will host the Orioles at 6:00 p.m. Westfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Monday just wasn't the day for Westfield's offense. They fell just short of Western by a score of 2-0 on Monday. The Shamrocks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Shea Vohs was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Westfield saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Watson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Watson has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, Avon got the win against Silver Creek on Saturday by a conclusive 22-12. The Orioles have beaten the Dragons the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Dragons has come to flipping the script.
Brinley Pope made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Pope was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Willow Harvey was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, two RBI, and one double. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (two). Zoey Chavez was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Avon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .646. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Westfield's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Avon, their victory bumped their record up to 7-16.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Avon struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
