The Lake Buena Vista Vipers will head out on the road to face off against the Cypress Creek Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lake Buena Vista gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Jones 24-7. The Vipers haven't had any issues with the Fightin' Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Aiza Khan was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten matchups. Dayana Jovet was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Lake Buena Vista hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Cypress Creek came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 18-2 win.
Brianna Velez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Velez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Cypress Creek let Britney Freitez and Alondra Lozada run wild. Freitez got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Lozada got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Freitez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Ramos, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Cypress Creek's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Lake Buena Vista, their record is now 11-12.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lake Buena Vista hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .425. However, it's not like Cypress Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lake Buena Vista suffered a grim 18-2 defeat to Cypress Creek in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Vipers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
