Softball Recap: Blackfoot Takes Down Ranked Shelley

Blackfoot faced Shelley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Broncos blew past the Russets 9-3. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.

Kylee Pratt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brianna Reynolds, who fired off two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leah Mecham, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Blackfoot was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Blackfoot is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. As for Shelley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-9.

Blackfoot wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 16-8 win against Bonneville on the 8th. Shelley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
