Baseball Recap: Island Coast Has No Trouble Against Port Charlotte

Island Coast won against Miami Beach last Thursday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Island Coast blew past the Port Charlotte Pirates 10-2. Considering the Gators have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Isaac Lopez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in February. Jacob Fowler also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Lopez wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Island Coast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Port Charlotte only managed six hits.

Island Coast has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That lines up perfectly with their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. Port Charlotte's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Island Coast will square off against North Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Port Charlotte, they will challenge Cypress Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Lake has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.06 runs per game on average), something Port Charlotte will no doubt try to take advantage of.
