After a string of four wins, the Yorktown Patriots's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Middletown by a score of 71-68. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (62), Yorktown still had to take the loss.
Yorktown's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Coulam, who scored 17 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Coulam scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brennan Pilot, who scored 12 points.
Yorktown's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Middletown, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yorktown and Wakefield will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
