Purchase Line hasn't had much luck against Marion Center recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Red Dragons will face off against the Stingers at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Purchase Line took a 14-run loss the last time they faced off against West Shamokin, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Dragons had just enough and edged out the Wolves 10-9.

Devlan Kordish was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Purchase Line's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 3-1 (and 1-9 when he doesn't). Christian Moyer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Purchase Line always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Marion Center had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Kiski School on Monday as they made off with a 12-2 win. The Stingers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 24th (when they won 15-0).
Trent Slovinsky and Jaxon Davis were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Slovinsky tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Davis pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Slovinsky posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Slovinsky got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI, while Davis got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Troy Slovinsky, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Runk, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Purchase Line pushed their record up to 4-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Marion Center, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-11.
Purchase Line suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Marion Center in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Red Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
