The Jefferson Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Highlands Owls at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson has now lost 16 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 17.
Jefferson suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 77-14 defeat at the hands of Alamo Heights. While losing is never fun, Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1326th, while Alamo Heights is ranked 250th).
Highlands can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They managed a 35-29 win over Edison. The victory was just what Highlands needed coming off of a 70-32 defeat in their prior matchup.
Jefferson has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 19 of their last 20 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-25 record this season. As for Highlands, their victory bumped their record up to 7-25.
Jefferson was taken down by Highlands 55-24 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Jefferson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
