The Snow Hill Eagles had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.5 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Decatur 64-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Seahawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brycen Coleman, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Careen Bolden, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Snow Hill pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Decatur, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Snow Hill will take on Arcadia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Arcadia's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups. As for Decatur, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Washington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Decatur is ranked 28th).
