Volleyball Recap: Wilmington Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Wilmington had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Grant Park Dragons on Monday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Wilmington never let Grant Park on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-11.

Leading Wilmington to victory were Sami Liaromatis and Ashlyn Warriner. Liaromatis had ten digs and four aces, while Warriner had five assists and three aces.

They weren't the only good server: Wilmington was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grant Park only served four aces.

Coming up, Wilmington will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Gardner-South Wilmington at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grant Park, they will take on Clifton Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
