West Valley recap October 8, 2013
Mark Romero and Alonzo Evans provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Overfelt. The connection was good for 62 yards, the longest such play in West Valley this season.
Hill moved up to 753 from 808 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Falcons were able to move up by topping Mt. Pleasant 38-3.
Yerba Buena's dynamic duo of Romero and Belmin Joldic proved to be unstoppable against the Royals, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Romero threw for 252 yards and 4 touchdowns and Joldic had 118 yards receiving. Evans helped Yerba Buena's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 89 yards.
He went 12-24 with 1 interception.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Prospect's Angel Guillen and Kevin Moon have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-4 quarterback Guillen has thrown for 738 yards this season, while Moon has 24 catches for 292 yards. Chris Ilio from the Cardinals leads the league in rushing with 370 yards.
An important game coming up in West Valley this week will be when Mt. Pleasant takes on Overfelt. Frank Lopez's team is in first place, while Ernie Mendoza's team is in fourth place.
The Panthers were the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fifth to third in the league. Prospect defeated Del Mar 22-8 earlier in the week.
