The Landon Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Highland Hawks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Landon's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Highland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Landon had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Washington Latin Public Charter School on Friday. The Bears put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 11-1 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Teddy Young looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Reese Deller was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Zach Burstein was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Highland suffered their closest defeat since March 14th on Wednesday. They fell just short of St. Christopher's by a score of 6-4. The Hawks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Matthew McCauley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jake Gunning made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Paolo Francioli, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Landon's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.
Landon's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's contest. The Bears have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Highland, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Landon continue to outrun the ball?
Landon couldn't quite get it done against Highland in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
