The Pelion Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 39-38 to Silver Bluff. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pelion in their matchups with Silver Bluff: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Pelion still got an impressive performance from Lucas New, who scored 19 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolton Rogers, who scored two points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Pelion struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Silver Bluff pulled down 16 offensive rebounds.
Among those leading the charge was Deshawn Wells, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Jaydon Eason, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Pelion dropped their record down to 5-11 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Silver Bluff, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Fox Creek the next time they take the court. Silver Bluff will host Fox Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Pelion will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
