Stanhope Elmore and Tallassee are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Stanhope Elmore Mustangs will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Tallassee Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stanhope Elmore has four straight wins, Tallassee has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Stanhope Elmore will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Prattville, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Stanhope Elmore never let Prattville onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly two runs.

Not much got past Tyler Woodham, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Prattville off the board. Those ten strikeouts gave Woodham a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Stanhope Elmore's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Anderson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Tallassee scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wetumpka.
Brue Milner was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Bryson Rigsby also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Stanhope Elmore pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs over those games. As for Tallassee, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
Tallassee's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Stanhope Elmore has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Tallassee, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Stanhope Elmore keep running through batters, or will Tallassee buck the trend?
Stanhope Elmore came out on top in a nail-biter against Tallassee when the teams last played on Thursday, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stanhope Elmore since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
