The West Texas Comanches will square off against the Sunray Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
West Texas took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Sanford-Fritch 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Comanches have posted since May 1, 2025.

Cash Fulton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. West Texas is 2-1 when Fulton posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Zaden Washer was incredible, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of West Texas' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Jacob Green was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sunray). They blew past White Deer 30-1 two weeks ago. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like West Texas, Sunray also got a great game from a two-way player: Parker Johnson. Throwing, Johnson struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Daniel Collins tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. At the plate, Johnson got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Collins went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Gray, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Sauceda, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Sunray always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .723. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as White Deer only posted an OBP of .267.
West Texas pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Sunray, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. West Texas has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like Sunray struggles in that department as they've averaged .636. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Texas might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from Sunray when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Comanches avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
