Basketball Recap: Lawrence County Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

If West Point wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lawrence County, they should've done a better job of containing Braylon Dame. The Lawrence County Red Devils came out on top in a nail-biter against the West Point Warriors on Thursday, sneaking past 74-72 thanks in part to Dame, who posted 27 points and seven rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Lawrence County's points.

Jackson Smith was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

Lawrence County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for West Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Lawrence County will take on Athens in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West Point, they will square off against Pennington at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
