The Quincy Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 20 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 56-33 margin over Rock Island. Given Quincy's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Rock Island is ranked 210th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Taylor Fohey, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The match was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Myley Longcor, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Quincy pushed their record up to 16-5 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 22.18 points. As for Rock Island, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
Quincy will challenge Springfield Southeast at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Springfield Southeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Rock Island, they will be playing at home against East Moline United at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
