The Bovina Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Farwell Steers at 6:15 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Bovina has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Farwell will arrive with 11 straight victories.
Bovina suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 79-7 loss at the hands of Panhandle. Meanwhile, Farwell stacked a 16th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Panhandle as Farwell made off with a 51-31 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Farwell has posted since December 28, 2023.
Makylee Baldwin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landri Richey, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Bovina dropped their record down to 4-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Farwell, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season.
Bovina was taken down by Farwell 71-15 in their previous meeting on January 9th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Farwell's Isabella Jaime, who scored 20 points.
