The Englewood Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 57-47 to Westside. Englewood has struggled against Westside recently, as their match on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Englewood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalen Scarver, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Scarver continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayshaun Solomon, who scored four points along with six assists and four steals.
Jaylen Mitchell was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds for Westside. Mitchell is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season.
Englewood bumped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Westside, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-16.
Englewood and Sandalwood will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Westside will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against St. Joseph Academy at 10:30 a.m. on January 13th.
