The Sonora Wildcats will take on the Hughson Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sonora knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Hughson likes a good challenge.
Last Tuesday, Sonora didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Hilmar, but they still walked away with a 55-50 win. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 450th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 969th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sonora to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noah Wright, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points. Wright has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Curran, who went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points.
Meanwhile, Hughson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 74-51 to Escalon. The Huskies were down 62-41 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the loss, Hughson saw an underclassman step up: freshman Karam Kang went 7 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points. Kang continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jackson Gehrke was another key player, putting up 12 points and six rebounds.
Sonora has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Hughson, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-15.
Everything came up roses for Sonora against Hughson in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 78-49 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Kang, who went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Sonora still be able to contain Kang? There's only one way to find out.
