Windom is 2-8 against Luverne since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. Windom is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Windom had taken Pipestone down for five straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Eagles fell 9-4 to the Arrows. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Quintin Tietz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Tietz is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Luverne got the win against Jackson County Central on Tuesday by a conclusive 19-1. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.
Blake Sauer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
In other batting news, Carter Sehr was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, six RBI, and two triples. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Joshua Hansen was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Luverne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Luverne pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Windom, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Windom hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .387. However, it's not like Luverne struggles in that department as they've averaged .407. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Windom couldn't quite get it done against Luverne when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
