After flying high against the Psalms Christian Academy Ambassadors last Friday, the Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics Storm came back down to earth. Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics took a 61-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Word of God Academy on Friday. Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 24% worse than the opposition.
Several Storm players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Molly Drewett, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Drewett is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Malorie Miller was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Word of God Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christina Guardado, who scored 26 points along with five assists and five steals. Guardado is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shiloh Brokenberry, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds.
Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics' loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Word of God Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-7.
Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics will head out on the road to face off against Louisiana Math Science & Arts at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Word of God Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
