The Western Plains Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They fell just short of Logan/Palco by a score of 45-42. That's two games in a row now that Western Plains has lost by exactly three points.
Despite the defeat, Western Plains saw an underclassman step up: Madelyn Kraus scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Strickler, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Western Plains were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Ansley Delimont, who scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds for Logan/Palco. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Delimont has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lylah Voss, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Western Plains' loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.7 points per game. As for Logan/Palco, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.
Western Plains will be playing in front of their home fans against Wheatland-Grinnell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wheatland-Grinnell will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Logan/Palco, they will head out on the road to square off against Rawlins County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
