Baseball Recap: Mize Extends Road Winning Streak to Six

Mize hadn't done well against Taylorsville recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Tartars. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Trey Myers made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Walker Sullivan, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Parker Himmel also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Mize always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taylorsville only posted an OBP of .320.

Mize's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Taylorsville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-16.

Mize and Taylorsville are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against Pelahatchie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mize's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chiefs have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Taylorsville, they will head out on the road to take on West Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
