Hampshire and Frankfort are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Trojans will face off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hampshire is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Monday just wasn't the day for Hampshire's offense. They fell just short of Musselman by a score of 1-0 on Monday. The Trojans' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Hampshire saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brent Evans, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Frankfort made sure to put some runs up on the board against Allegany on Monday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Campers. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Carson Durst made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Shanholtz, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Jaxon Hare was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Frankfort hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in six consecutive contests.
Frankfort has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hampshire, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
Hampshire came out on top in a nail-biter against Frankfort in their previous meeting on April 1st, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
