The Collegium Charter Cougar suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Renaissance Academy by a score of 59-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Renaissance Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taijae Byrd-Breazeale, who scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ed Breazeale IV, who scored 15 points.
Collegium Charter has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Renaissance Academy, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.
Collegium Charter won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against La Academia Charter at 11:00 a.m. on January 13th. As for Renaissance Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Alliance Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alliance Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
