Basketball Recap: Wenonah Beats John Carroll Catholic for Their Ninth Straight Win

Wenonah had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers 58-23. The Dragons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Wenonah to victory were Samarian Franklin and Aariyanah Parker. Franklin dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 12 assists, and ten steals, while Parker dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. The matchup was Franklin's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Wills, who posted 12 points.

Wenonah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Wenonah pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for John Carroll Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wenonah will head out to take on Sipsey Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for John Carroll Catholic, they are taking a road trip to face off against Oakwood Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oakwood Academy has five straight victories, John Carroll Catholic has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
