Softball Recap: Crescent City Wins Going Away Against First Baptist Christian Academy

While Crescent City didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 20-0 margin over the First Baptist Christian Academy Crusaders on Friday. The game marked the Raiders' most dominant victory of the season.

Caylee Goff made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Crescent City let Macy Stuckey and April Morales run wild. Stuckey went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Morales scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Stuckey has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Emilia Mereniuc also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Crescent City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .579 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Crescent City has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. First Baptist Christian Academy is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Crescent City will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on First Baptist Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on March 27th. After both having extra time off, First Baptist Christian Academy and Warner Christian Academy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 5:00 p.m. on March 25th.
