The Maranatha Christian Eagles are on the road again on Friday and play against the Madison Warhawks at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. Hopefully Maranatha Christian is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Madison in California (Maranatha Christian is ranked 270th, while Madison is ranked 939th).
Maranatha Christian pushed their score all the way to 64 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Ramona by a score of 67-64. Maranatha Christian has not had much luck with Ramona recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Zeke Walker, who scored 26 points along with 3 steals. He scored a full 40.6% of Maranatha Christian's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Adrian (A.D.) Ownbey, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, even though Steele Canyon scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, Madison still came out on top. Madison managed a 62-56 victory over Steele Canyon. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Madison.
Eli Stevens continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with 8 steals and 5 rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorge Luque, who scored 9 points along with 10 rebounds.
The losses dropped Maranatha Christian to 4-3 and Ramona to 3-3.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Maranatha Christian have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.6 threes per game. It's a different story for Madison, though, as they've been averaging only 6.2 per game. Given Maranatha Christian's sizeable advantage in that area, Madison will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Maranatha Christian came up short against Madison in their previous matchup back in January, falling 64-53. Thankfully for Maranatha Christian, Jake Jackson (who scored 25 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
