The Broomfield Bald Eagle will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Douglas County Huskies at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Broomfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Broomfield will bounce into Saturday's matchup after beating Mountain Vista, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Bald Eagle came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 6-3 on Monday.
Carter Uran looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Broomfield is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ashton Nakamichi, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Jackson Shepherd was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Douglas County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cherokee Trail on Thursday. The Huskies came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cougars, sneaking past 10-8.
Bricen Moore made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Moore was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Gunner Gienger was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Nunn, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Douglas County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Broomfield is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Douglas County, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Broomfield got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Douglas County by a conclusive 8-1 score. Do the Bald Eagle have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
