The Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars are taking a road trip to face off against the Los Lunas Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Atrisco Heritage Academy comes in on three and Los Lunas on seven.
Atrisco Heritage Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Albuquerque, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Atrisco Heritage Academy was ranked 17th). The Jaguars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Bulldogs on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jaguars have posted since April 8th.

Melanie MacIas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Atrisco Heritage Academy's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Savannah Lujan, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Atrisco Heritage Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Los Lunas was able to grind out a solid victory over Albuquerque on Tuesday, taking the game 8-3.
Los Lunas also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Brooke Baca gave up just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacelyn Baca, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Natalie Madrid, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Atrisco Heritage Academy's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Los Lunas, their record now sits at 18-6.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Atrisco Heritage Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. However, it's not like Los Lunas struggles in that department as they've averaged .453. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
