The Pecatonica Indians will take on the Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Pecatonica will be strutting in after a victory while Ashton-Franklin Center will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Pecatonica turned things around against West Carroll on Friday. They came out on top against the Thunder by a score of 10-6. The Indians' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Maren Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Ellie Bolen was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammy Abate, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Pecatonica was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Ashton-Franklin Center's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lena-Winslow on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Raiders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Ashton-Franklin Center's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Pecatonica, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Ashton-Franklin Center's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Pecatonica has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Ashton-Franklin Center, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Pecatonica keep running through batters, or will the Raiders buck the trend?
Pecatonica skirted past Ashton-Franklin Center 4-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
