Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union). They blew past the Ponca City Wildcats 93-33 on Tuesday. Given the Redhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Ponca City saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tavionne Akers posted 12 points.

The win was the third in a row for Union, bringing their record for this year to 5-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.7 points per game. As for Ponca City, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Union will take on Muskogee at 8:00 p.m. on January 14th. One thing working in Union's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Ponca City, they will square off against Bixby at 8:00 p.m. on January 14th.
