Tuesday, January 29, we were in Guthrie, Oklahoma to honor the Bluejays. The14-0 Bluejays were nationally ranked #29 overall from over16,000 schools.
The celebration was held in the Guthrie High School gymnasium just after the Varsity Girls’ basketball team beat Piedmont48-42.
Brady Scheer, a Guthrie High School senior as well as the school’s announcer, opened the event by welcoming Sam Ritter of Maxpreps. Sam provided an overview of the process Maxpreps uses to compute team rankings to determine recipients of this honor. Sam congratulated the Bluejays on a successful season, and he introduced SFC Leroy Scott with the Oklahoma Army National Guard. SFC Scott congratulated the coaches, team, and fans on the Bluejays’ successful season. At which point, Coach RafeWatkins was presented with the Tour of Champions National Ranking trophy. Coach Watkins thanked the team for all their hard work as well as the fans for their support. Coach Watkins also took the opportunity to extend thanks to Dr. Brett H. Jameson, an Orthopedic Surgeon, who, inconjunction with Logan County Memorial Hospital, provides Guthrie High School athletics with the services of a full-time trainer (Jennifer McRae).
Just prior to the presentation, SGM Ray Swinford, SFC Leroy Scott, and SFC Dennis Squires handed out commemorative Army National Guard/Tourof Champions t-shirts and iPod speakers to all the players. Then, the Bluejay cheerleaders tossed t-shirtsto fans in the bleachers.

The 3rd annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard was a great success and we wish theGuthrie Bluejays well in the forthcoming season!
