Marshall is 2-8 against South El Monte since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Marshall scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 73-37 win over Rosemead. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Marshall as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Cedric Hill was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Bagdo Yetenekyan was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Meanwhile, South El Monte didn't have too much trouble with Mountain View on the road on Monday as they won 74-60. The victory was just what South El Monte needed coming off of a 62-23 defeat in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South El Monte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eli Lopez, who scored 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Aguilar, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Marshall's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for South El Monte, their victory bumped their record up to 8-15.
Marshall suffered a grim 74-51 defeat to South El Monte when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of South El Monte's Titus Hernandez, who scored 22 points along with three steals.
