The Woodruff Wolverines were the 40-34 winner over the Laurens Raiders when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. Woodruff fell 41-34 to Laurens on Wednesday. Woodruff has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Woodruff's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sadie Burnette, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 steals, and Jaylen Means who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 steals. Burnette is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Aziyah Burgin was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 6 rebounds.
Zoe Young continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Laurens, scoring 21 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. The matchup was Young's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Faith Jackson, who scored 6 points along with 10 rebounds.
Woodruff's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Laurens, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodruff will take on Fountain Inn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fountain Inn is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Laurens, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Clinton at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. Clinton's defense has only allowed 24.8 points per game this season, so Laurens' offense will have their work cut out for Laurens.
