Hermon is 9-1 against Washington Academy since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Hermon Hawks will be staying on the road to face off against the Washington Academy Raiders at 2:00 p.m. on December 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maine (Hermon is ranked 63rd, while Washington Academy is ranked 39th).
On Thursday, Hermon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-52 to Foxcroft Academy. Hermon has not had much luck with Foxcroft Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, Washington Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on Bucksport with a sharp 54-34 win.
Hermon's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Washington Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Hermon beat Washington Academy 48-38 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hermon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
