Templeton is 8-1-1 against San Luis Obispo since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Eagles will take on the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Templeton will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Five must be Templeton's lucky number: they beat Coalinga with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Horned Toads, sneaking past 5-3.
Templeton got a great performance from Tegan Jay as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Jay has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Grace Morris was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jessie Branch, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Nipomo hit San Luis Obispo with a six-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers fell just short of the Titans by a score of 9-7. The Tigers have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Audrey Youngs was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Keely Iverson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Templeton's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for San Luis Obispo, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Templeton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like San Luis Obispo struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Templeton was able to grind out a solid win over San Luis Obispo in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, winning 6-2. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
