If the Novinger Wildcats were riding high off their 51-27 takedown of the Linn County Mustangs last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Novinger had to suffer through a rough 77-27 loss at the hands of the Gophers. Novinger has struggled against the Gophers recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
It was another big night for Asher Buggs-Tipton, who scored 20 points along with three steals for Green City. Buggs-Tipton has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 13 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Xander Salas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 assists.
Novinger dropped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Green City, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
Novinger will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Green City, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Brashear will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 301st, while the Gophers are ranked 85th).
