Hardin is 0-10 against Kountze since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hardin Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Kountze Lions at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hardin was handed a three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Anahuac on Friday. Hardin blew past Anahuac 53-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Hardin has posted since December 8, 2023.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Kountze on the road against Buna on Friday as the team secured a 66-38 win. Given Kountze's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Buna is ranked 475th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hardin pushed their record up to 14-9 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Kountze, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.
Hardin lost to Kountze on the road by a decisive 48-33 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Hardin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
