The St. Pauls Bulldogs lost against the Lumberton Pirates back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. St. Pauls took a 55-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lumberton. St. Pauls has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
St. Pauls' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jakhi Purcell, who scored nine points along with five assists and four steals. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for him. Theophilus (theo) Setzer was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
St. Pauls' defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Lumberton, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5.
St. Pauls and South View will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. South View is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.1 points per game. Lumberton and Jack Britt will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Jack Britt focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Thursday.
